VISIT OF THE PRIME MINISTER SALI BERISHA

On June 21st, 2008 at the Archaeological Site and Museum of Kamenica took place a very important event, the visit of the Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

Together with the Prime Minister and Mrs. Berisha there were also the Minister of the Finances, Mr. Ridvan Bode, the prefect of the Korça region, Mrs. Elfrida Zefi, the major of the Municipality of Mollaj, Mr. Fredi Xhemo, and the head of the District’s Council, Mr. Ilia Milo, besides many other political and cultural authorities.

The Prime Minister was very positively impressed by the whole arrangement and display of the archaeological remains and the museum, and acknowledged the uniqueness of the Kamenica site. He showed a genuine interest in the history of the site, posing many questions, and accepted with great pleasure the museum’s guide and the archaeological publications that were presented to him as a gift for his interest and support to Albanian archaeology.

At the end he enthusiastically promised a strong support of his Government for the site by means of funding the construction of the road to it and encouraging the community and the local authorities to present development and conservation projects to the Government for further support and funding.
